Finding the ‘I’ in the Storm – Find your stress-sweet spot

We often hear that stress is a bad thing but a little bit of stress can go a long way, motivating you to attain your goals and meet daily challenges. In fact, well-managed stress will support you through challenge and change, making you more resilient and better equipped for whatever life throws at you.
Using easy-to-understand everyday language Dr Sabina Brennan will talk about the psychological and physical stress response, explaining what happens in the brain when stress becomes chronic. She will give some tips on how to recognise the signs of stress and will give some practical tips on how to manage stress at home and in the workplace.
OUR KEYNOTE SPEAKER:
Sabina Brennan (PhD., C.Psychol.,PsSI.) is a psychologist, neuroscientist, award-winning science communicator and author of the No 1 best-seller 100 Days to a Younger Brain. Dr Brennan is currently leading a large research project at Trinity College looking at the relationship between brain health, genomics, lifestyle and dementia.
Her public engagement projects aim to increase the societal impact of scientific research by translating complex content into easy-to-understand resources for the general public and key stakeholders.
In 2016 Sabina was the inaugural recipient of Science Foundation Ireland’s Award for Outstanding Contribution to STEM Communication. In 2017 she received the Provost’s Award for Innovation in recognition of her work for social impact. Most recently she was listed as one of IMAGE magazine’s Women of the Year 2018.
Sabina has advised the Irish government on brain health and dementia risk reduction and is currently a member of advisory boards for the All Party Parliamentary Group on Longevity in Westminster. Sabina is Ireland’s national expert representative member on Alzheimer’s Disease International’s Medical and Scientific Advisory Panel.
Sabina has established a strong media profile and is founding director of Trinity Brain Health Ltd., a Trinity College spin out company that specializes in translating complex scientific content into fun and entertaining animations.
Following Dr Brennan’s talk we will be holding a panel discussion moderated by Gerry Kelly of LMFM radio, with contributions from Dr Brennan, Nicola Connolly Byrne of I AM POSITIVE MINSET and Lisa Dundar of Lisa Dunbar Health. With our lives being so busy and turbulent, where do we find time for ourselves to deal with stress. We all experience it but what does it do to our mind and body and and how we manage it?

He’s a multi award winning broadcaster, presenter and writer. Prior to his radio career Gerry worked for eircom in a range of roles including; HR, Finance, Sales and Corporate Account Management. A Drogheda native Gerry is a passionate sportsman, keen angler, gardener, socialite and lives life to the full!

Lisa Dunbar is a Nutrition and Health Coach based in Dundalk. Having used diet and lifestyle changes to recover from physical and mental health challenges, Lisa is now on a mission to motivate others to take ownership of their health and to teach them how to make lasting changes to their diet and lifestyle so they can go on to live a healthier, happier life.
She provides one to one consultations and also delivers a range of educational and inspirational talks to groups and businesses.
