Describe your business in 3 words
IT Department for small/medium business
What has been your greatest achievement to date?
On a personal level – becoming a mother while completing a post-grad diploma in 2013 and my two boys. On a business level – working in the family business for the past 16 years and seeing it grow to what it is now through the up’s and down’s and up’s and…
What are your hopes for your business in 2020?
To continue to grow and adjust the business in very challenging times.
With this pandemic we need to adapt our businesses and lives with the restrictions that are being put in place. We provide cloud solutions and services to customers and we can do this remotely – but we need to ensure that our staff are trained up and have the equipment they need to do this either remotely or onsite.
We are launching a cybersecurity product at the moment, which will protect our customers from cyber/crypto attacks. We are hoping for a good response to this launch in the coming months.
What person or book has inspired you?
My parents inspire me every day – My father taking a chance and starting up an IT Support business and his dedication to the business over the years. My mother – for pursuing her dream and love of art and becoming a wonderful artist. They both inspire me every day to be a better person and parent.
I really enjoyed reading Michelle Obama’s book ‘Becoming’. It was a great insight in to her and the time leading up to her First Lady role, her support for her husband and her family values.
What did you want to be when you grew up as a child?
I don’t remember wanting to be anything in particular. I studied business studies in college and even then I wasn’t sure if that is what I wanted.
There was a sign in our kitchen growing up – “There are 3 kinds of people – Those who watch things happen; Those who make things happen; Those that wondered what happened – Who do you want to be?” I wanted to be the one who made things happen!
