Network Cork February Event: How To Be A Winner
Posted on: February 15, 2019
We all like to win. It’s a great thrill to take home a trophy, to be acknowledged for your hard work and dedication. But many of us don’t put ourselves forward for awards. Why not? Sometimes it’s because the application form seems so daunting. Sometimes it’s because you’re not sure of the value to you and your company.
Applications for the Network Ireland Businesswoman of the Year Awards opened on Tuesday 5 February and we hosted this event to help you maximise your chances of winning the Network Cork awards on 24 May and, of course, going on to represent our branch at national level.
Tricia Sheehan from Depuy Synthes has been on our judging panel for the last two years and she took us through the application form, detailing what the judges look for, what they want/don’t want and giving advice on how best to answer questions. This advice will be invaluable no matter what awards you want to enter.
Sian Horn of Elite Pilates is Network Cork’s Business Awards Coordinator for 2019 and she MC’d a panel of expert speakers who widened the discussion around awards: how to find the best awards for your industry; why you should enter; why you should consider sponsoring awards and more:
Ciara Wilson, Salon Shop Supplies: Ciara is Network Ireland Business Awards Coordinator for 2018 and 2019. Ann-Marie O’Sullivan, AM O’Sullivan PR: Ann-Marie has won awards, sponsored awards and advised clients on entering awards. Kathy O’Dwyer, Career Internships Training: Kathy was recently awarded the prestigious All-Ireland Business All-Star Award. Aoife Dunne, Cork Chamber: Aoife manages Cork Chamber Skillnet along with the Cork Digital Marketing Awards.
We were also honoured to be joined on the night by President of Network Ireland Helen Wycherley, Celtic Ross Hotel. Thanks to everyone who joined us in the Republic of Work for a very informative evening and great networking.
