Posted on: 20 February 2019

Network Ireland Mayo is celebrating 25 years since founded in August 1994 in the Imperial Hotel Castlebar. They are marking this milestone with an event on the Thursday 24th January in Breaffy House Resort with light refreshments at 7.15pm and event starting at 8pm – everyone is welcomed.

Geraldine O’Hara Farragher, Mairead Bourke & Anita Hanley founded the network and Gerardline and Mairead went on to take the role of President over the following years.  While network took a break for 4 years two Network Galway members, Anne Hession and Alison Herbert (Network Ireland President) put an advert in the local papers and invited businesswomen to attend an information event to rekindle the Network in Mayo. At the meeting was Maria Moran from Westport who took the President’s role and it has grown from strength to strength since.

Anne Conlon 2018 & 2019 President said, “It’s a remarkable story the history of our network.  While it has changed over the years, the values remain the same – to support businesswomen either as employees or employers.  2018 had seen the network at it’s strongest with the highest level of membership, events & social media engagements in past 25 years, it is becoming an organisation that women want to be a member of.”  Ms Conlon went on to say the membership is made up of employees, small SME, large SME & Sole Traders.  We are a progressive, dynamic organisation supporting the professional and personal development of women.

This year’s theme is ‘Learning, Supporting and Archiving Together’ which brings our mission and values as one.  Our events will include workshops in Sales & LinkedIn.  The network members support each other and are supported by the Network Mayo Branch by doing this we all archive.  The ‘Together’ is very important as some of our members work on their own or in offices with not a lot of female company so coming together bridges the gap from isolation, Ms Conlon went on to say.
