I am the owner manager of Jacksmill our family farm diversification and biodiversity project. Jacksmill consists of Hub13 and the Forest Gardens. Hub13 is the uniquely repurposed sawmill which now offers office, co-working, meeting room, studio and community spaces. It is adjacent to Exit 13 on the N11 between Greystones and Wicklow Town.
The Forest Gardens is the farmland around Hub13 which we have transformed into a biodiversity project with with various sized allotments surrounded by native Irish trees and hedges, tree guilds, bee hives. and a tree nursery. ReWild Wicklow have established their headquarters and a native tree nursery in Jacksmill Forest Gardens. We produce our own apple juice called Anna's Apples after our daughter Anna.
I worked in social care and nursing for many years and this gave me much insight into how community and natural environment impacts on physical and mental health. This insight has guided the development of Jacksmill to provide an inclusive and sustainable place to live, grow and work local in North County Wicklow.
