Emma Jacobs Art: I am a Creative Entrepreneur and Visual Artist who has been living in Cork for 3 years. Originally from South Africa, I have a background in Learning & Development, and we owned 5-star B&Bs. Since arriving in Cork, I have been working in Hotel Management and I recently left my full-time People & Culture Manager Role at The Montenotte Hotel to go back into self-employment, develop my Emma Jacobs Art practice, and explore entrepreneurship in Ireland. I belonged to a very similar organisation to Network Cork, called KZN Women in Businesss, where I served on the committee for 4 years. I started oil paining in 2016, and started my Emma Jacobs Art Gallery at our art-themed 5-star B&B in Durban, South Africa. I was also the Founder of Durban Art Workshops, combining my passions of L&D, Hospitality and Art, providing teaching artists with a venue to host workshops from and helping other artists grow. In March of 2020, I held my first solo art exhibition at The Foyer in Durban, and I recently held my first Irish solo art exhibition in March of this year, 2024 which ran for 8 weeks in Cork City. I was invited as one of 3 featured artists from Africa to exhibit at Microsoft Ireland's Africa Day Event, and will be participating for the 3rd time in Kinsale Arts Weekend, and will be exhibiting at the Cork International Airport for the month of August. Now that I have returned to self-employement, I am looking for my tribe, and I know from past experience that Network Ireland will be a valuable source of support in my journey here in Ireland, and that you will find an engaged and active member in me.
